Signs Your Mul-T-Lock Lock Rekeying Is Failing
- Key requires jiggling to turn. Worn pin chambers or a sidebar that no longer sits flush against the housing create tolerance gaps. In Chicago, freeze-thaw cycles accelerate this by drawing moisture into the cylinder, where it evaporates and leaves mineral deposits on the pins.
- Key turns but bolt does not retract. The tailpiece or cam has stripped, or the cylinder has rotated slightly in its housing. This is a mechanical failure, not a rekey issue alone, but we diagnose it before rekeying so you do not pay twice.
