Signs Your Mul-T-Lock Master Key Systems Is Failing
- Sub-key opens wrong doors. This is ghosting, and it means the master pin stack has shifted or worn. In Chicago’s climate, thermal expansion cycles loosen pinning over years. The fix is repinning or cylinder replacement, not just cutting new keys.
- Master key sticks or requires jiggling. Usually indicates telescopic pin binding in Interactive+ cylinders, or alpha spring drag in MT5+. The lubricant has broken down or debris has entered the keyway. Forced turning will shear a pin.
