To identify your model, pop the interior cover and read the label on the battery tray. The four-digit code starting with “YRD” is what we need. The backset measurement, either 2-3/8″ or 2-3/4″, determines which latch we bring. Most Chicago homes built before 1990 have the 2-3/8″ backset; newer construction and retrofitted doors usually run 2-3/4″.

We stock both OEM Yale modules and quality aftermarket equivalents where the spec matches. For the Nest x Yale line, we use OEM only, the third-party firmware compatibility is unreliable and voids the Nest warranty. Signs Your Yale Smart Lock Installation Is Failing

• Battery drain every 7-14 days. The motor is drawing excess current because the deadbolt is binding against a misaligned strike plate. In Chicago, this accelerates in winter when door frames contract and the latch rubs metal-on-metal.

• Keypad beeps but motor never engages. The motor itself has burned out, or the flex cable connecting the keypad to the main board has fractured at the hinge point. This is a full interior module replacement, not a field repair.
